Anvil or Bypass blade?

Fiskars pruners and loppers are available with either anvil or bypass blades. Both types of blade have their advantages.

Bypass Blades are ideal for young, green wood. Precise clean flush cuts using two curved blades that bypass each other in the same manner as a pair of scissors.

threeThe blade and the counter blade presses into the wood fourThe cut itself is clean and causes less compression damage to the wood

Anvil Blades are highly recommended for cutting woody growth and dead wood. A slicing action similar to a knife against a cutting board.

one

The blade (sharper & narrower than that of the bypass) is forced through the wood with greater pressure (downward pressure).

two

The anvil blade supports the branch and spreads the pressure until the cut is complete
