• Texture Plate - Spirit
• Texture Plate - Nature
• Texture Plate - Energy
• FISKARS® for kids Non-Stick™ Blunt-tip Scissors

• 12"" X 18"" Manilla Paper - 1 per specimen
• Crayons

Benefit:

Instills an awareness and appreciation for designs found in nature.
Requires the use of shape, texture & value in creating unity.

Activity:

Each student will:

1. Use crayon to draw specimen on manilla paper. (Encourage students to touch all four sides of the paper when drawing these shapes.)
2. Place drawing over texture plate and color.
3. Combine different texture rubbings to achieve unity.
4. Use scissors to cut out specimen.

Ideas:

Motivate students with marine life pictorials.
Create a marine life bulletin board. Be sure to include atleast one specimen from each student as well as three dimensional sea plants in the display.
