Fiskars Garden & Outdoor Living Continues Partnership With 2003 Project Orange Thumb Recipient
Donation Will Support Community Garden Tool Shed
SAUK CITY,WI
Fiskars Garden, a leader in innovative garden tools and accessories, announced today a continued partnership with The City of Sacramento with a donation of gardening tools for their Community Garden Tool Shed. The tools will be presented at the Grand Opening Celebration of the Fremont Community Garden, June 9, 2007.
The City of Sacramento was a 2003 recipient of the Fiskars Project Orange Thumb grant which helped develop Sacramento's very first community garden. The successof the 2003 garden spurred several other successful gardens. June 9,2007 marks the opening and celebration of Sacramento's 5th community garden.
"We are honored to continue ourpartnership with The City of Sacramento," said Paul Tonnesen, President of Fiskars Garden & Outdoor Living. "Sacramento is a testamentto the success of community gardening activities. We hope Project Orange Thumb and our partnerships will continue to be a catalyst for improving community gardening around the United States."
Fremont Community garden represents themodel design for urban community gardens. It has 58 total plots. Four of the plots are ADA accessible and two are reserved for children so they gradually learn the value of community gardens.
"Project Orange Thumb was the first grant that wereceived and it made a difference to our City program and to thegardeners. They always grab for the Fiskars orange handledtools first," said Bill Maynard Community Garden Program Coordinator, City of Sacramento.
