The Fiskars Group has discovered that a batch of Fiskars Functional Form™ Spoon may contain PAA (primary aromatic amines) above acceptable levels. As this is a food contact product, a potential health risk cannot be ruled out
We advise you to return the following product with immediate effect:

The specific batch, manufactured on June 20, 2020, can be identified by the batch code on the back of the packaging, above the barcode, or on the back of the spoon. Retailers are requested to remove all stock of this batch from all points of sale This observation does not affect any other item in the Functional Form range. To ensure our investigation of this case is as thorough as possible, Fiskars has temporarily suspended orders for certain silicone utensils in the Fiskars Functional Form series.
In July 2020, Fiskars recalled a limited batch of the same product manufactured in December 2019. Fiskars takes product quality very seriously and has been thoroughly investigating the production process of this product since July. Since July, several upgrades have been implemented at the control points in the production process to ensure the issue is not replicated. Furthermore, the number of tests has been increased. The affected batch was manufactured before the previous case was identified and the production process was updated.
If you have purchased the item described above, please return it to the store where it was purchased. You will receive a full refund or the product will be exchanged free of charge for a new spoon from a different production batch.

How can the batch code be identified?

The batch code is located on the back of the packaging, above the barcode. Batch code 200620.

If you have disposed of the packaging, you will find a print on the back of the spoon. An arrow points to 6, and the numbers 2 and 0 are printed on either side of the arrow.

If you have destroyed the packaging, you will find a printed mark on the back of the spoon. The arrow points to "12" for the month the batch was produced. A "1" and a "9" are printed on either side of the arrow for the year 2019.

1. Why is Fiskars recalling the Fiskars Functional Form™ cooking spoon?
We are recalling the Fiskars Functional Form™ cooking spoon 1027299, batch codes 191223 and 200620, with immediate effect because it has been determined that the product may contain PAA (primary aromatic amines) above the permitted limits. As this is a food contact product, a potential health risk cannot be ruled out.
The affected batch, manufactured on December 23, 2019, and June 20, 2020, can be identified by the batch code on the back of the packaging above the barcode or by the imprint on the back of the cooking spoon. All stock of these batches must be removed from all points of sale. This issue does not affect Functional Form™ cooking spoons manufactured during any other period or any other items in the Functional Form™ product line.
2. How is Fiskars ensuring that consumers do not use the product?
The product was immediately stopped internally, and we are currently investigating the cause and conducting additional tests on the affected item. Shipments of this product have been stopped until the problem is resolved.
We have informed our retail partners and individual webstore customers about the matter. We have instructed our retail partners to remove all stock of these specific batch codes from all points of sale and to contact their Fiskars sales representative to restock. We have provided our retail partners with consumer informational materials to display in their stores. Consumers are asked to return the item to our retail partner for a full refund or to exchange it for a comparable item from a different batch.
3. Is there a risk to consumers using the product? What potential health problems could occur?
There is a possible, minimal risk from short-term exposure. For this reason, we are recalling this item within a safe timeframe. In the case of continued exposure over a long period, we cannot rule out the possibility of a health risk. We are taking every precaution to eliminate this longer-term risk through a swift response and have therefore recalled the product.
4. Are other products in the Functional Form™ range safe to use?
Safety is our top priority. Our products are manufactured using advanced technical manufacturing processes and high-quality materials. They have been tested and perform exceptionally well in the activities and environments for which they were designed.
We have recommended a recall of the Fiskars Functional Form™ cooking spoon 1027299, batch codes 191223 and 200620. The issue does not affect other items in the Functional Form™ product line, nor does it affect 2- or 3-piece sets sold under the same Fiskars Functional Form™ cooking spoon 1027299.
5. How can the affected batches be identified?
The affected batches, manufactured on December 23, 2019, and June 20, 2019, can be identified by the batch codes 191223 and 200620 on the back of the packaging, above the barcode. If the packaging has been discarded: on the back of the spoon there is a print with an arrow pointing to the 12; on either side of the arrow are printed a 1 and a 9, or an arrow pointing to the 6, with printed 2 and a 0 on either side.
6. Where were the affected batches sold?
The affected batch was sold in Europe, Russia, the UK, and Australia through Fiskars partners and our own Fiskars webstore. We have informed our wholesale customers and consumers about the matter.
7. How many items does the affected batch contain?
The affected batches are limited. Batch 191223 was shipped to our customers between March and the end of August. Batch 200620 was shipped to our customers between August and the beginning of November.
8. Where were the affected batches manufactured?
The affected batch was manufactured by one of our suppliers in China.
9. How can I obtain a new product to replace one from the affected batch?
Please return the product to the retailer where you purchased it. If this is not possible, we recommend contacting your nearest Fiskars dealer.
10. I no longer have the receipt for the product. Can I still return it?
Yes, you can of course still return or exchange the product. The affected batch can be identified by the batch code 191223 or 200620 on the back of the packaging above the barcode. If the packaging has been discarded, the batch can be identified by the imprint on the back of the spoon. The arrow points to the 12, and a 1 and a 9 are printed on either side of the arrow, or an arrow pointing to the 6, with a 2 and a 0 printed on either side.
