Style #1 | The Nest

Step 1

Cut a circle.

Using circle cutter or a shape cutting with a circle template on a craft mat, cut a six inch circle from brown cardstock.

Step 2

Make a spiral.

Beginning at outer edge, cut a rugged spiral to center. Purposely make choppy cuts to give randomness to edges.

Step 3

Add texture to spiral.

Crumple up cardstock spiral well to distress the edges for a nature-inspired look.

Step 4

Add “nest” to a base.

Using low-temp hot glue, adhere tip of spiral to a thin cut from an empty paper towel roll as shown. Loosely wrap rest of spiral around holder and adhere to a piece of brown cardstock. Once dry, trim off excess cardstock.

Step 5

Finishing texture.

Cut a few thin slivers of leftover brown cardstock and spiral around an opened paper clip. Adhere randomly around nest for extra texture to complete.

Style #2 | Grass Holder

Step 1

Cut out inside ring of grass.

Cut an approximately 1-3/4 inch wide strip of green cardstock long enough to fit around egg with slight overlap. (Width can be adjusted to fit particular letter stickers if needed.)

Step 2

Cut out outside ring of grass.

Cut an approximately 1-3/8 inch wide strip of lighter green cardstock one quarter inch longer than original strip.

Step 3

Add grass texture.

Punch one side of each strip with grass border punch.

Step 4

Create the inside ring of grass.

Tape taller strip into a roll and add a row of foam adhesive dots along bottom of exterior.

Step 5

Create outside ring of grass.

Add shorter strip around original roll and tape closed.

Step 6

Personalize.

Use letter stickers to a add name or other spring-time words.

Step 7

Finishing texture.

Gently curl out blades of grass for dimension.

Style #3 | Spring flower

Step 1

Cut out flower stem (base).

Cut a one inch wide strip of green cardstock long enough to fit around egg with a little excess; roll and tape closed. (I learned to add a little after I made mine since the petals add bulk inside the roll. In hindsight I wish my eggs fit lower in the roll.)

Step 2

Create petals.

Punch ovals from desired cardstock.

Step 3

Connect petals to stem.

Fold over tip of each oval and adhere around interior of roll.

Step 4

If desired, add more layers of petals.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 with a row of smaller ovals if desired.

Step 5

Finishing texture.

Gently round each oval for dimension.
