In this tutorial, we will show you three ways to make custom wrapping paper. We'll make custom gift tags, sparkly star ribbons and personalized wrapping paper. Read on to learn how!
To make the mini chalkboard gift tags:
Step 1. Cut the tag shapes. Insert your basswood into the Fiskars® Thick Materials Tag Punch and push down to cut as many tags as you need. You can also use balsa or another thin crafting wood.
Step 2. Create the holes. Use the Fiskars® Circle Hand Punch - 1/16"to create holes at the top of each tag. This is where you will thread twine for attaching to your parcels.
Step 3. Paint the tags. Using black chalkboard paint, paint each tag and allow to dry thoroughly.
Step 4. Stamp the sentiment.Choose your desired sentiment from any Fiskars® Stamp Set and place it on the Fiskars® Stamp Block. Apply white ink to the stamp and carefully stamp each gift tag.
Step 5. Cut faux stems. Add a little festive flourish with a faux stem, trimmed to size using the Fiskars® PowerCut™ Shears (8 in.).
Step 6. Finish the gift box. Tie twine around your gift box and attach the gift tag. Tuck the faux stem under the twine, and tie in place.
To make the star wrapping:
Step 1. Cut the leather lace. Wrap the leather lace around your gift box a few times and cut to size using the Fiskars® PowerCut™ Shears (8 in.). Secure the ends of the lace on the underside of the box with small pieces of tape.
Step 2. Cut the star shapes. Using glittery craft foam, cut star shapes using the Fiskars® Thick Materials Star Punches in both Medium and Large sizes. We used red and gold colors for our boxes.
Step 3. Glue the stars to the packaging. Apply adhesive to the back of each star and glue to the leather lace and allow to dry.
To make the hand stamped gift wrap:
Step 1. Create the shape. On the back of a piece of self-adhesive cork sheet, draw your desired shape.
Step 2. Cut out the shape. Using the Fiskars® PowerCut™ Shears (8 in.), cut out your shape and remove the backing paper from the cork.
Step 3. Stamp the design. Place the cork shape onto a stamp block and apply paint to the stamp. We used white paint on brown paper and stamped a uniform pattern. Allow the paint to dry.
Step 4. Finish the gift wrap. Use the hand stamped gift wrap to wrap your gift. Finish the wrapping by tie the package with twine and adding a jingle bell or two.
No matter how you choose to finish your gift, make sure to send it off with love!
