Triangle Patchwork Cushion Cover

Start by selecting one color of fabric and cut it into 4" strips along the width of the fabric.

Next, cut the strips into equilateral triangles. Start by locating the 60 degree line printed on the rotary ruler, and line it up along the cut, long edge of your fabric and run the rotary blade along the ruler to cut.

Now spin the ruler around and line up the edge with the opposing 60 degree line, and cut. This will create one equilateral triangle. Repeat the process for the remainder of the strip and for the remainder of the colors of fabric. My cushion cover is approximately 16" x 16" and I used 50 equilateral triangles cut from 5 different fabrics.

Sew the triangles together with a ¼" seam allowance and create enough rows for your pillow cover. I sewed 5 rows of 10 triangles, but you can overestimate how much you need because you trim the cover to size afterwards.

Join the rows together with a ¼" seam allowance.

Make sure to match the points of the triangles!

Use your rotary ruler to trim the cushion cover to fit the size of pillow form you are using. The triangles on the edges will be cut in half.

Pin, then sew a contrast piping around the edge of your cushion front. Ease the piping around the corners.

Create the cushion back by cutting two flaps the same width as your cushion front, and just over half the length. Hem one long raw edge on each back piece and sew, with right sides together, to the cushion front. Add two buttons to the back flaps for a closure.
