How to Make Pizza with Homegrown Herbs & Veggies

Nothing tastes better than a homemade pizza made from fresh ingredients grown in your very own pizza garden. Host a fun dinner party and have people make their own pizzas with your harvest!

Ingredients for Homemade Pizza:

  • Pizza dough, either store bought or homemade

  • Pizza sauce, either store bought or homemade

  • Veggies, like tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, and herbs

  • Cheese, like mozzarella or cheddar

 

How To Make A Homemade Pizza

Step 1: Select your toppings. First, go into your pizza garden and cut fresh tomatoes, green peppers and any other veggies or herbs you have using your Fiskars Softgrip Micro-tip Pruning Snips. Get creative with this first step - if you like arugula to top your pie, grab from the garden and work into the recipe. If peppers are your favorite, select as many as you want and make them the featured ingredient. The sky's the limit!

Step 2: Dress up the sauce. Once you have your ingredients selected and washed, turn your attention to the sauce. Add some freshly snipped herbs to the sauce and make it taste like it's straight from Italy. I used rosemary and basil and cut directly into the sauce using the Fiskars Fast-Prep Herb Shears.

Step 3: Top your pie. Now that your sauce has been perfected and added on top of the dough, slice fresh tomatoes using the Fiskars Summit Serrated Utility Knife and place on the pizza. Add an even layer of cheese on top to help keep the tomatoes moist during the baking process.

Step 4: Add your veggies. Next, prepare your other veggies by cutting and placing on top of the pizza. I added green peppers and some rosemary. Add any additional ingredients, like meat or dried spices from your pantry, at this point and cover with an additional layer of cheese.

Step 5: Grill. For the perfect summertime pizza, go for the grill over the oven. Place your pizza on a heated pizza stone on the grill and cook for 8-10 minutes or until the cheese starts to bubble and brown. The cooking time my vary based on your grill heat, so keep an eye on the pizza to ensure it comes out perfectly crisped.

Step 6: Slice and serve. After allowing the grilled pizza to cool for a couple of minutes, cut into slices using the Fiskars Non-Scratch Kitchen Shears and serve. This homemade recipe is sure to please a crowd!
