Custom Map Cushions

Go to google.com and locate your zip code, town or city on the map. Take a screenshot of the map image and save it to your computer.

Using your computer's editing software, crop the map to a square and adjust the size to 16" x 16" and the dpi to 150. Upload your cropped image to Spoonflower.com, who will print your customized design onto linen or cotton canvas and mail it to you. You can fit one 16" x 16" design on to one fat quarter.

On receiving your fabric, trim the excess fabric around the map design. This will be your cushion front and should measure 16" x 16".

Cut two pieces of cushion back fabric each measuring 16" x 8 ½".

Pin piping all the way around the outside edge of the cushion front. Raw edges of the piping and cushion front should align.

Sew the invisible zipper to the two cushion back pieces and finish the seams.

Sewn correctly, the invisible zipper will be neatly tucked between the two cushion back pieces.

Sew the cushion backs to the cushion front with right sides facing. Open the zipper before you sew, to allow you to turn the cushion to its right side. Finish the seams.

Turn cushion cover right side out and insert 16" x 16" pillow form.
